Student Assistant - Student Life Social Media Assistant - The New School : Job Details

MISSION: The @NewSchoolStudentLife Instagram account is used to post pictures of New School students, Gnarls Narwhal, and student engagement events on campus while promoting upcoming student events and initiatives and reflecting New School values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and community. This account is also used for DM messaging with students, where many questions are sent and need to be responded to accurately and in a timely manner. Instagram Team members work the bulk of their hours in person on campus, with limited remote hours also available for related zoom meetings and asynchronous projects.

This student team is united in the mission of making New School students feel a sense of community, inclusion, and belonging on campus. This team is jointly supervised by Student Leadership & Involvement, Orientation and Transition Programs, and Student Success Communications from their offices at Fanton Hall at 72 5th Avenue.

RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPECTATIONS & TIME COMMITMENT

* Work a minimum of 8 regular office hours per week from the Fanton Hall office and 2 additional hours remotely (including weekly team meeting on zoom).

* Work a minimum of 2 events per month held on evenings and weekends. Instagram team members may be asked to create and post engaging social media content from events, assist with attendance and other event logistics, and provide support to the Gnarls mascot and on-site coordinators of the event.

* Answer student questions in DMs, through instagram takeovers, by email, by phone, and in-person at the Student Success office.

* Build positive morale and support among all members of the team.

* Be an active member of the team's group chat, where task assignments and upcoming schedules are confirmed.

* Must be available for team retreat at the beginning of each semester

Hourly Range: $15.00 - $19.00
