Job Summary

Working Title: Admin/Clerical (Work-Study) – Student Admissions/Recruitment Support-

The University of Utah Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is looking for two Doctoral

of Physical Therapy students in the first year for a 3-year appointment to assist with recruitment and admissions of potential DPT students. Students will assist to maintain a repository of information regarding physical therapy and athletic training to be used at community outreach activities, such as high school career events or graduate fairs.

In preparation for any recruitment activities, students will help to prepare materials, such as information flyers as well as collect items to be distributed at the event. Students will work closely with the Graduate Student Coordinator and Pathway Director to assist with creation of materials to be used to publicize events and, materials to be distributed during the events. Additionally, students will assist to recruit peers from their cohort to assist with the activities that may occur off-campus at area high schools.

This job requires students to be eligible for and have accepted federal Work-Study funds.

Responsibilities

Students are to be available for recruitment activities that may be online, on campus and off-campus at times. Though the St. George pathway director is the direct supervisor, students will work closely and collaborate with the Graduate Student Coordinator to understand recruitment needs and priorities of the program/pathway.

Tasks include, but are not limited to,

  • Collect, create, and organize materials to be used during information presentations at local area high school career fairs and graduate about physical therapy and other health careers.

  • Assist to maintain inventory of supplies used at recruitment and admissions events and provide information regarding potential purchase of relevant items for distribution to applicants at fairs.

  • Contribute student perspective regarding the experience within the DPT program at various recruitment events.

  • Provide general administrative support Graduate Student Coordinator, including other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferences

Must be accepted to or enrolled in the Doctoral of Physical Therapy program – St George Pathway.

Good spoken and written communication skills.

Work well in a team.

Should be comfortable speaking with small and large groups (up to 50) of potential applicants as well as high school cohorts.
