Structural Engineering Senior Manager/ Department Head

Due to continued growth in 2025, Boswell is offering a unique opportunity for either a Senior Manager or Department Head of our Structural Engineering Team in our South Hackensack, NJ Headquarters. In this role you will work closely with our clients while managing & mentoring a team of Project Managers, Design Engineers, Draftsman, and support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform structural analysis, design, and assessment of building structures
Work closely with our new and reoccurring clients in preparation of upcoming projects
Prepare detailed design calculations, technical reports, and assessment reports
Manage subordinate staff on a day-to-day basis
Ensure satisfactory performance of staff on specific projects
Develop plans and specifications in accordance with client requirements
Serve as a Project Manager on select project assignments and monitor status of multiple projects simultaneously
Identify staffing needs and coordinate with our Talent Acquisition Team
Interview candidates for vacancies in the department
Prepare proposals and qualification statements for new contracts
Manage client relationships and engagement with the clients
Identify new clients and business development opportunities
Work collaboratively with other departments and engineers on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects
Assist as needed with inspection and design which requires both field and office work
Manage the department/ project budgets
Lead and Mentor engineers and Project Managers
Remain current in latest engineering techniques and practices
Attend meeting outside of working hours if needed
Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor degree (BS) in Civil or Structural Engineering with an active Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in either NJ or NY (both are preferred)
11+ years of experience in Engineering Project Management involved in structural inspection, design, construction of bridges culverts, retaining walls, and overhead sign structures, with at least 3+ years of direct Management experience in managing and mentoring an engineering Team
3+ years experience working with New Jersey municipalities on structural projects
Significant experience working with the NJDOT, NJTA, NYC Transit, NYCDOT, and NYSDOT
Comprehensive knowledge of and familiarity with technology, software and automated processes in design and construction projects
Interpersonal communication skills
Excellent writing, editing and document organizational skills
Current US work eligibility is required.

In accordance with local law, the salary range below is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon specific relevant experience, education, certifications, skill level, geographic location, and other compensable factors.
Salary Range: $185,000.00 - $210,000.00 / Year
