Job Title: Structural Analysis Engineer
Job Description
The role involves leading the structural analysis of Industrial Gas Turbine Engine components and systems to assess component durability, identify design shortfalls, propose potential design improvements, and evaluate risk. The successful candidate will demonstrate a team-focused and proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
Conduct hand calculations for evaluating simple structural problems.
Generate FEA models using ANSYS and/or Abaqus.
Define and apply appropriate boundary conditions for each analysis.
Execute models to assess component life, including LCF and Modal analysis of gas turbine rotating and static hardware.
Post-process model results to derive insights.
Make CAD changes to collaborate with other disciplines and enhance designs.
Document results effectively.
Mentor engineers to develop their skills.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years experience in gas turbine component structural analysis.
General knowledge of turbomachinery component design, assemblies, and manufacturing.
Experience in CAD modeling.
Proficiency in FEA software, preferably ANSYS/Abaqus.
Strong analytical decision-making and organizational skills.
Effective communication and decision-making abilities.
Technical computer skills (e.g., C++, VBA).
Willingness to travel as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience presenting technical topics to peers, higher management, and customers.
Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes, general machining, and fabrication.
Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
Work Environment
The position is based on the manufacturing floor and office space, offering a dedicated cubicle for work. It involves supporting high-level turbine projects for some of the largest aerospace groups worldwide.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $52.00/hr.
