Structural Designer - LNG

Functions in a technical specialist/entry level supervisory capacity. In a technical design role, solves difficult technical problems, as well as provides consultation and training. In addition to design and production responsibilities, directs efforts of other engineering technician professionals as required.

Key responsibilities include: reviewing project requirements and determining correct format and contents of the required deliverables, ensuring deliverables are following codes and standards, solving difficult technical problems and providing consultation and training, coordinating deliverables with other groups to minimize interference or errors, participating with other design groups to review and exchange project information necessary for design development, providing technical guidance to other engineering technicians, ensuring adherence to Black & Veatch Quality Program to deliver accurate and compliant outputs, directing and supporting project teams in using applications to continuously improve methods, processes, and procedures, creating and developing deliverables based on various design inputs, performing, and coordinating computations such as quantity estimates and dimensional checks, understanding and meeting the needs of internal clients while considering external clients' main interests and drivers, and proactively seeking and sharing knowledge of the latest technologies and processes.

Preferred qualifications include offshore/marine LNG experience, leadership, design, and supervisory experience in offshore/marine LNG projects, diploma or certificate preferred; associate-degree in drafting or an engineering design related technology preferred, typically a minimum of 11 years of related work experience, knowledge of software such as Autodesk AutoCAD, SmartPlant3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Aveva E3D (preferred but not required), working knowledge of structural design and projects, knowledge of project/industry standards and procedures, excellent communication, time management, and change management skills, strong leadership and delegation abilities, desire and ability to teach others, team-building and excellent problem-solving skills.
