The primary responsibility of a Family Farm and Home Store Manager - Unassigned is to learn and support the company's culture and philosophies. They must have strong leadership skills to motivate and supervise team members. The role involves learning about merchandising, shrink control, and store operations. A successful Store Manager - Unassigned will understand the local market, customer base, seasonal opportunities, competitors, and other factors influencing the business. They are expected to be role models, leaders, problem-solvers, and strategic thinkers, managing their time to meet budgeted goals.

Store Manager - Unassigned will be responsible for learning how to operate a store within 6 to 12 months and must be willing to relocate thereafter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Promoting Family Farm and Home's mission statement and family values.
  • Fostering an aggressive sales culture focused on superior customer service.
  • Maintaining a motivated team through hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and firing, along with monitoring and evaluating performance.
  • Upholding professionalism and positive store morale.
  • Ensuring all store responsibilities are performed effectively by key associates or the manager personally.
  • Scheduling and assigning staff, following up on work results.
  • Providing feedback to company officials such as buyers and district managers.
  • Taking full profit and loss accountability for the store.
  • Assisting in budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Building rapport with customers to identify current and future needs.
  • Supporting local community groups aligned with company values.
  • Managing inventory and ensuring the availability of merchandise and services.
  • Protecting inventory and assets against theft and damage per company policy.
  • Verifying merchandise receipt, storage, and merchandising according to standards.
  • Ensuring a safe, clean environment for employees and customers, complying with legal requirements.
  • Reviewing operational and financial data to inform marketing strategies.
  • Maintaining professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.
  • Implementing operational and personnel policies consistently.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by supervisors or company officials.

Manager Trainee Requirements:

A successful Store Manager - Unassigned must demonstrate leadership and problem-solving skills, manage with limited supervision, and have excellent communication skills. They should be comfortable with hiring and firing, understand customer service, and be team-oriented. Good management, organizational skills, and the ability to interpret data are essential. They must handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, stand for extended periods, and handle physical tasks such as moving merchandise and climbing ladders. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays is required.
