Reporting to the Directors of the Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program ( CSTEP ), the Counselor provides academic, career, and financial aid counseling to CSTEP students.They assist the CSTEP Directors in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of CSTEP summer and academic year services, activities, and events. Additionally, they coordinate and conduct the CSTEP Alumni and Peer Mentor Programs.This position requires occasional weekend hours.
Essential Functions
Provides academic, career, and financial aid counseling to CSTEP students.Assists in coordinating gateway science review sessions and tutorials.Supports Assistant Directors in the coordination and implementation of the CSTEP Summer Scholars Program.Assists in the development and maintenance of STEP partnerships with area high schools to provide off-site college access and readiness workshops.Participate in recruiting for the CSTEP and STEP programs.Aid in compiling data for grant and university reports.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
Bachelor's degreeMinimum of one year of experience supporting underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students in a university or secondary school setting, including recruitment, advising, career planning, and extracurricular events.Experience advising students pursuing careers in STEM , health, and licensed fields.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.Strong organizational skills; team player with the ability to work independently.Familiarity with student retention strategies.Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Experience in managing and utilizing various social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field.Experience advising underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students in a university setting.Familiarity with entry requirements for STEM , health, and licensed fields.Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate academic enrichment activities and services.Experience in providing college access and career readiness workshops, seminars, and activities.
