H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm, seeks a STEAM Outreach Specialist to provide direct support to the HR team to promote STEAM careers in our communities. This role will require the ability to connect in the communities of our corporate footprint and develop regular programming and provide exposure to careers in the AEC industry.

Job Responsibilities:

College Relations
  • Facilitate partnerships with colleges and universities that align with our corporate and recruitment strategies, with consideration to our office locations.
  • Coordinate and promote college level scholarship programs.
  • Manage our approach to college fairs, coordinate activities, and engage H2M staff alumni to attend.
  • Lead all events to ensure attendance by H2M staff and faculty, staff and students is properly planned.
  • Attend events as needed.
School District / Community Engagement
  • Foster positive relationships between H2M and school districts and related organizations local to H2M offices.
  • Coordinate with Learning and Development and technical staff for Shadow Days and other related programs focused on STEM careers for youths.
  • Coordinate and promote all high school level scholarship programs.
  • Act as a sponsor for the ACE Mentor teams currently for Parsippany, Westchester, and Melville.
  • Engage with the community and gain interest through effective communication channels.
  • Coordinate community outreach with our office leaders.
Collaboration and Strategy
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to educate the public about the company's projects and initiatives.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including school administrators, local government officials, and community leaders.
  • Facilitate open dialogues and partnerships to address mutual interests and concerns.
  • Collaborate with HR and team leaders to ensure internal resources are available and prepared.
  • Work with the marketing team to deliver compelling narratives and garner attention for STEAM activities.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the company during related public events and meetings.
  • Prepare internal annual report to ensure transparency on community, college and STEAM activities as well as giving.
  • Work with leadership to develop and administer annual budgets.

Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field.
  • Proven experience in community relations, preferably within the professional services industry.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of local regulations and community dynamics.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic situations and develop relationships with our community partners.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization including Sr. Level Executives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite software.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and build relationships to get cooperation from staff.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail; strong follow-up skills a must.
  • Excellent record keeping habits and organizational skills.

Follows and adheres to the highest level of communication for both internal and external clients and maintains the highest level of confidentiality and discretion when needed.

Displays a positive can-do attitude and ensures acceptance and conformity to company standards and H2M core values.

Displays a strong sense of team along with a tactful approach to problem solving that involves meaningful discussion and collaboration.

Ensures that outreach is happening in the communities we serve.

The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 annually.

The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications – not related to any applicant's characteristics protected by local, state or federal law.

Note: The salary or hourly rate indicated does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
