The NYC Department of Transportation's Facilities and Security Management Unit seeks to hire a Stationary Engineer to serve within the Facilities Maintenance team. DOT Facilities and Security Management supports a large portfolio of leased or City-owned facilities across more than 6 million square feet of office, yard, workshop, manufacturing, and warehouse space throughout the City.
Responsibilities:
Operates, maintains, and adjusts boilers, furnaces, engines, pumps, heat exchangers, generators, motors, chillers, cooling towers, and equipment for heating, ventilating, air conditioning, lighting, and associated systems in public buildings, municipal pumping stations, and incinerators.Performs periodic inspections and minor repairs on equipment.Conducts preventive maintenance.Manages a watch, responsible for and directing subordinate personnel during assigned shifts.Operates control consoles in control rooms as needed.Prepares requisitions for materials and spare parts.Instructs and trains subordinates and other personnel.Reads meters, gauges, and recording devices; logs data and keeps records.Inspects low-pressure boilers according to NYC Department of Buildings procedures.Requirements:
- A valid license for High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer issued by the NYC Department of Buildings, maintained throughout employment.
- Certificate of Qualification for Refrigerating Machine Operator (Unlimited Capacity) issued by the NYC Fire Department, maintained throughout employment.
