Position Purpose

Primary relief person for Stationary Engineer & Coverage Mechanic positions. Performs duties around the hospital to maintain Plant Operations 24/7, including repairs, monitoring machinery, systems, and mechanical equipment like heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, Building Management Systems, and Fire Alarm Systems. Operates boilers and compressors safely to provide utilities such as light, heat, and power. Must make independent decisions and stay on site until relieved. Responds to off-shift engineering calls and performs relief work across various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

What you will do:
  • Operate and maintain hospital mechanical systems and equipment. Perform repairs to ensure proper function. Report hazards or breakdowns to supervisors.
  • Operate high-pressure steam boilers, auxiliary equipment, centrifugal chillers, and water towers to supply steam or chilled water.
  • Maintain personal growth and competency.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of the Plant and Engineering Department.
  • Contribute to department efficiency and hospital operations through dependable job performance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • 2 years of experience operating and repairing high-pressure steam boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • 3 years of experience in basic repair and maintenance of hospital facilities and equipment.
  • OE-2 Operating Stationary Engineer license required.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull objects over 100 pounds, perform manipulative tasks, walk, stand, sit, and remain in uncomfortable positions for long periods.
  • Expose to hazardous materials, temperature fluctuations, noise, electrical hazards, and other risks. Moderate stress in emergencies.
