State of Michigan Direct-Laborer (Construction) - Abacus Service Corporation : Job Details

Location: 2290 4 Mile Road NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 Work hours: M-F, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. We are requestinga temporary laborer to assist with daily operations and ongoing construction projects in the Grand Rapids unit., primarily positioned at the Grand Rapids Michigan State Police (MSP) Facility. The main role of this position is to escort facility-related personnel into the building to complete necessary maintenance/repairs. Currently, BOD employees must escort people into the building which can take up to 50% of their time per day. The temporary employee will also perform general laborer tasks including grounds maintenance and job clean up. The employee must pass a MSP background check and receive access approval from MSP before beginning work.Job DescriptionThe function of the work unit is to provide a safe, comfortable and cost effective facility to allow our customers to provide their designated services to the people of the State of Michigan, and to provide maintenance and construction services to preserve the investment of the State of Michigan, DTMB. The main duties are escorting personnel, loading and unloading deliveries, snow removal, cleaning up, being first responders to building complaints regarding lights that are out, temperature issues, modular furniture, strange odors, etc., and preparing the way for emergency personnel to give them quick access to individuals when an ambulance is called.Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to work in hot/cold temperatures outdoors. Driver's License to operate SOM vehicles.
