This is a hybrid role, based in our New York office or remotely within the US, depending on team and business needs.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Vice President, Business Affairs to oversee legal and compliance operations for one of our major clients. This is a high-impact leadership role on a cross-functional team supporting partnerships between brands and talent—including celebrities, influencers, properties, sponsorships, and content platforms. Reporting into our executive leadership team, the VP will oversee negotiation of terms & conditions in all contracts, ensure all partnerships are compliant with various rules & regulations, and oversee and internal team operations. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in commercial endorsements, SAG/AFTRA, FTC compliance, and a working understanding of the pop culture and entertainment landscape. You must be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with senior brand stakeholders, agency leads, talent representatives, and legal counsel.

What you'll do:

Lead and manage starpower's Business Affairs department, including oversight of legal and compliance operations across client accounts

Act as strategic advisor to both internal account teams and client legal stakeholders

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SAG/AFTRA, FTC guidelines, and key industry standards

Lead compliance management for influencer and talent activations, ensuring all content meets legal and regulatory requirements

Contract & Legal Oversight

Translate brand business objectives into contractual frameworks

Lead contract negotiation and execution of agreements with talent, influencers, properties, content platforms, and more

Oversee IP, licensing, exclusivity, deliverables, and usage rights management across agreements

Serve as liaison between brand legal, agency, and talent legal teams

Client Service & Strategic Counsel

Provide strategic input during campaign planning to ensure legal and compliance feasibility

Attend and lead client calls and meetings; communicate complex legal topics in a clear, business-friendly manner

Support internal training and best practices around business affairs and legal risk mitigation

Maintain ongoing tracking of legal workflows, deliverables, and deal statuses for client visibility

What you should have:

Skills & Background

10+ years of business affairs or legal experience in-house at an agency, media company, law firm, or talent management company

Strong experience negotiating contracts for commercial talent partnerships, appearances, and IP licensing

Proven ability to lead business affairs and compliance strategy across multi-stakeholder brand campaigns

In-depth knowledge of SAG/AFTRA, FTC endorsement guidelines, and related legal frameworks

Experience with consumer goods and/or healthcare brands is a plus

Education & Tools

Bachelor's degree required; JD or legal training preferred but not required

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and communication skills

Personal Attributes

Deep understanding of pop culture, influencers, and entertainment industry dynamics

Self-motivated, flexible, and collaborative team leader

Pay Range: $150,00.00-$190,000.00

This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and geographical location. Working with Real HART: Since the pandemic, we have adapted to how our people told us they want to work. We have office locations in cities in the US, UK, and Europe with many employees and clients that serve as hubs where and when they need us. For employeeswho are within an hour of one of our offices, we expect attendance in the office two days per week, either at a Real Chemistry office or onsite with clients.
