POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE: The Recruiting & Staffing Specialist shall focus on the identification, attraction and hiring of talent, including sourcing candidates, screening resumes, conducting interviews and managing the overall hiring process, while demonstrating and promoting SFI values. Incumbent will collaborate with hiring managers to understand needs and ensure a smooth onboarding process for new hires. Incumbent will also support various human resources functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Recruitment & Staffing
- Demonstrate and promote servant leadership and SFI values, including integrity, respect, excellence and adaptability.
- Lead recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt roles, including full-time, part-time, and temporary positions, by partnering with hiring managers to assess staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
- Utilize a variety of recruitment methods, including social media, job boards, audio ads, print media, employee referrals, universities, technical colleges, employee referrals, etc., and collaborate with the Public Relations team as needed to coordinate campaigns, advertisements, and promotional materials.
- Proactively manage the applicant lifecycle, including tracking candidates, conducting pre-screens, coordinating interviews, and responding to candidate inquiries. Regularly follow up with hiring managers to ensure timely feedback and maintain momentum in the hiring process.
- Maintain accurate and timely communication with applicants across all platforms.
- Assess applicant qualifications and overall fit for the position and provide recommendations on next steps in the screening and selection process.
- Conduct and review background and reference checks (e.g., employment, criminal history, MVR) following conditional offers.
- Promote internal advancement and ensure internal candidates are considered where appropriate.
- Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding, including computer-based training setup, welcome activities, and distribution of onboarding materials, while ensuring timely completion of all required documentation to support accurate and efficient HR and payroll processing.
High School, University & Technical School Outreach
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local high schools, including FFA advisors, agriculture teachers, guidance counselors, and program coordinators.
- Coordinate and participate in student-focused events such as Career Days, Discovery Days, classroom visits, and on-the-job training opportunities.
- Support and help administer high school scholarship and internship programs, promoting awareness of career paths in pork production.
- Cultivate partnerships with universities and technical colleges, including agricultural departments, career advisors, student organizations, and faculty aligned with industry-relevant curricula.
- Assist as needed in the recruitment, placement, and coordination of internship and early career development programs.
International Recruitment & Advocacy
- Lead and manage international recruitment efforts by partnering with the HR team and production managers to identify personnel needs and determine appropriate visa programs.
- Screen international applicants to evaluate qualifications, visa eligibility, and overall fit for employment, providing informed recommendations for hiring consideration.
- Coordinate and facilitate video interviews between candidates and hiring managers, ensuring a smooth and professional candidate experience.
- Extend formal offers of employment and communicate next steps clearly to candidates.
- Guide selected candidates through the visa application process, including completing necessary documentation, coordinating payments, and scheduling consulate appointments.
- Provide timely, comprehensive pre-arrival information and resources to prepare candidates for successful visa appointments.
- Support onboarding new international hires by coordinating travel arrangements, relocation logistics, and integration into the community and company. This includes assistance with housing, groceries, furnishings, utilities, transportation, local services, securing essential documentation (e.g., Social Security card, driver's license, bank account), and employment orientation.
- Collaborate with legal counsel as needed, coordinating with SFI-designated immigration attorneys to support visa approvals and compliance.
- Assist in visa renewal and work authorization extensions by managing timelines, collaborating with incumbent employees and managers to determine intent, and coordinate updates to I-9 documentation and internal processes.
- Recommend effective recruitment and sourcing strategies for internationally eligible positions and actively engage in targeted, relevant social media platforms and outreach channels (e.g., pages dedicated to international professionals) to attract and connect with qualified candidates abroad.
- Ensure all international recruitment activities and employment practices are compliant with applicable immigration laws, visa requirements, and company policies.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as a bilingual (Spanish English) resource by providing verbal translation for HR-related matters, including, but not limited to, benefits, performance reviews, recognition programs, workers' compensation, family medical leave, and investigation interviews.
- Support effective communication between team members and supervisors by translating during performance conversations, disciplinary meetings, and confidential discussions.
- Translate a variety of internal documents and materials into Spanish, including investigation documents, handbooks, policies, standard operating procedures, signage, performance reviews, newsletters, and other HR or company communications.
- Assist the HR team in responding to employee questions, planning, and executing team member events, and facilitating the delivery of recognition and engagement programs.
- Help foster a positive workplace culture by supporting employee engagement initiatives such as site visits and feedback efforts.
Administrative & Compliance Support
- Accurately enter new hires and process terminations in the ADP HRIS system to ensure timely and efficient onboarding, offboarding, and payroll processing.
- Maintain and regularly update personnel files in compliance with internal policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with safety program and PQA (Pork Quality Assurance) recordkeeping, ensuring documentation is accurate and readily available for internal use or audits.
- Support the development of recurring and ad hoc reports, presentations, and other HR-related documentation for internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all administrative processes align with company confidentiality standards, data privacy regulations, and human resources best practices.
Miscellaneous
- Assist with company-wide communications, including composing, formatting, and distributing mass mailings, annual compliance notices, annual state and federal reminders, benefit updates, and regulatory reminders.
- Actively support and promote SFI's animal welfare and biosecurity policies.
- Perform additional administrative tasks and projects, as assigned, to support the HR team and broader organizational goals.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with federal and state employment laws, including proper handling of protected health information (PHI) and adherence to privacy procedures established by SFI.

- Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office programs, internet-based tools, video conferencing platforms, web applications, and HRIS systems.
- Acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to travel as required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate or bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
- Three or more years of human resources experience, preferably with recruiting or staffing responsibilities.
- Experience working in agriculture, food production, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience in bilingual or multicultural work environments.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
- Position will involve travel and non-standard business hours (travel weekly, occasional overnights)
