Six core values are embedded within these commitments - student-centered, whole child, equity, academic excellence, community partnership, and continuous learning.Nutrition Support Services (NSS) is responsible to support the district's academic community by providing nutritious and appealing meals with excellent customer service, in a safe and clean environment to every student each school day. NSS serves over 60 million meals to 300,000+ students daily.Job Summary:Reporting to the Staffing Manager, the Staffing Representative will provide professional support activities for the staffing of schools across the district including filling requests for substitute lunchroom employees, coordinating coverage for additional programs (summer school, after school, and special events), and processing payroll for assigned employees. This is a full-time, exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.This position will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:•Coordinate substitute coverage for CPS and charter schools, and staff assignments according to staffing levels.•Communicate with staff on various staffing issues, including the process to request additional staff and proper payroll procedures. Report on data related to all aspects of staffing including staffing efficiency with current processes.•Audit payroll reports to verify hours, time approvals at the school level, and attendance during school and summer school programs.•Assign staffing for additional programs (Summer school, after school, and special events).•Assist the Staffing Specialist with the hiring process by reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting phone screens, and processing paperwork.•Compile and submit daily staffing reports for filled/unfilled assignments and absenteeism.•Monitor timecards daily to ensure coverage and staffing levels at each school.•Approve and monitor payroll for charter school and citywide employees, and assist with staffing decisions for school-based employees•Request supporting documentation for employee absences including sick and absence-without-leave (AWOL).•Other duties as assigned.In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, this position must possess the following qualifications:Education Required:•High School diploma or equivalent is required•Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is highly preferredExperience Required:•Minimum of two (2) years of customer service working with all levels of management and/or payroll experience required•Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Google suite•Previous experience working with confidential information preferred•Experience supporting/working in a union environment is preferred•Experience with HRIS systems preferred (e.g. Peoplesoft, Taleo, Oracle, and Kronos)Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:•Ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, efficient, positive, and demonstrating a high level of professionalism.•Ability to learn quickly, great attention to detail and the tenacity to follow-through•Flexibility to successfully address competing priorities, various tasks and projects within the department•Solid planning skills, and the ability to develop work plans and follow through to completion with limited direction and oversight•Excellent customer service skills, including ethical and professional behavior at all times•Ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality with highly sensitive information.•Superior organizational and time management, analytical and problem-solving skills.•Strong written and verbal communication skills.Conditions of EmploymentAs a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:•Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
