About the Role
The San Luis Obispo branch of United Staffing Associates is hiring a Staffing Associate to support our recruiting team. The position requires advanced technical proficiency and verbal and written communication skills in English and offers a rewarding, diverse, and fast-paced career in the workforce solutions industry. Individuals who possess interpersonal skills, ambition and a desire to support the Recruiters who negotiate and influence, solve problems and manage relationships in a client-facing role, are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Reviews employment applications and job orders to match applicants with job requirements, using computerized file searches.
- Interviews job applicants to match qualifications with employers' needs, recording and evaluating applicants' experience, education, training, and skills. Assists with or requests reference and background checks on applicants as requested or required by clients.
- Support branch payroll reporting efforts which includes regularly interacting with employees and requires excellent time management and proactive skills.
- May maintain Affordable Care Act management for branch employees who qualify and accept health insurance.
- Document employee absences and complete Paid Sick Leave documents including COVID-19 tracking and reporting to HR.
- Assists and supports the recruitment team by assigning second intake documents and disbursing job offers.
- Assigns Sexual Harassment Prevention Training to workforce and runs reports and maintains tracking of completion.
- Makes customer service calls to clients to deliver important details pertaining to placements; communicates client issues to Branch Manager for instructions on handling or response.
- Assists with preparation of job orders from client interviews in accordance with protocol.
- Performs searches for qualified candidates according to relevant job criteria, using computer databases, networking, Internet recruiting resources, cold calls, media, recruiting firms, and employee referrals.
- Arranges client interviews with successful applicant candidates, follows up with client and applicant following interview. Processes selected candidates according to agreed procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge of best hiring practices, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and employment guidelines and laws.
- Supports internal sales prospect inquiries by preparing contract administration.
Qualifications
- Must have interviewing and listening skills in order to identify applicant skills for future placement purposes.
- Must be able to work well with limited supervision; exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding client needs and business practices. Ability to work overtime as required.
- Must possess knowledge of principles of good customer service and the ability to apply these principles to current and future clients. Must demonstrate a positive customer service image.
- Requires knowledge of administrative procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Ability to perform administrative tasks; maintain information, personnel files and process paperwork. Ability to quickly gain a basic understanding of the technology utilized by the Company, including the current software system. Proficiency in computers, such as MS Office software required.
- Must have ability to organize work and prioritize tasks in order to accomplish goals. Must maintain flexibility and responsiveness to client and company needs and demonstrate attention to detail and follow-through.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language required. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.
- Must be able to quickly gain an understanding of the relationship of all company positions to each other, and their impact on meeting company goals. Ability to work with others in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment, functioning as a team member.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field.
- Must have a minimum of two years experience in an administrative business position. Experience in a recruiting related industry is desired but not required.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills required.
- Demonstrated excellence in time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
