Job Title: House Manager

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, RN 2 or 3 years, LPN, or administrative/direct care experience with individuals with D/ID; Flexibility in schedule to accommodate job responsibilities; Submit to and pass a criminal record check and a drug screen test; Possess a valid social security card or valid work permit for non US citizens; and possess a valid driver license with no moving violations.

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

This position reports directly to the D/ID Director or D/ID Assistant Director.

Summary of Job Duties:

The Residential Manager position may be full or part time, and may be required to be on-call. The manager will be responsible for residential facilities for individuals with mental retardation. Each home has one to three individuals and a staff person on site at all times. Each individual receives support as needed, including physical assistance, communication training, self-help, sensor motor skills, and daily living skills such as ambulation, grooming, feeding, toileting, meal planning, laundry, and budgeting. Other responsibilities include emotional support, communication and cooperation with case managers and staff, transportation arrangements, and participation in medical appointments and follow-up care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete and oversee all paperwork (billing, progress notes, fire drills, time sheets, travel, etc.)
  • Write relevant, factual notes using the appropriate format.
  • Ensure compliance with the individual's Plan of Care (skill training, behavior plan, etc.).
  • Coordinate doctor appointments with staff and/or accompany individuals as needed, including transportation.
  • Communicate with case managers, staff, and family members regarding individuals' needs and progress.
  • Monitor individual health and ensure prescriptions are filled.
  • Oversee, monitor, and assist individuals with their money.
  • Encourage and schedule community activities for individuals.
  • Supervise residence staff and schedule shifts.
  • Arrange and/or provide direct care during daytime hours at SR (8 am - 4 pm).
  • Be available for backup or shift coverage in emergencies.
  • Identify and schedule staff training needs and monitor training progress.
  • Report maintenance needs and oversee repairs of residence and vehicles.
  • Maintain a home-like atmosphere and follow up on incident reports and medication issues.
  • Report complaints and prevent/report abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Participate in hiring, staff evaluations, and resolve staff concerns.
  • Coordinate monthly staff residence meetings.
  • Prepare menus, grocery lists, and handle paperwork and meetings as assigned.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, initiative, confidentiality, punctuality, teamwork, and respectful language.
  • Limit visitation and respect all individuals and staff.

Work Environment:

May involve outside weather, off-site work, and moderate noise levels.

Environmental Data and Job Hazards:
  • Irregular hours possible.
  • Potential exposure to blood or infectious materials; annual training required.
  • Training on handling threats, violence, and safety procedures; CPR certification required within one month.
