Role Overview

We seek a highly experienced Staff Software Engineer to lead development of robotic software and embedded systems in aviation environments. Responsibilities include designing, integrating, testing, deploying, and maintaining software in aircraft systems worldwide. You will own mission-critical initiatives, set high technical standards, and deliver impactful solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Ownership of critical product lines, driving projects from conception to deployment.
  • Collaborate with distributed teams to design and deliver advanced software features.
  • Develop, review, and maintain high-quality, aviation-standard code.
  • Lead integration of hardware and software components into cohesive systems.
  • Optimize performance, including migrating Python code to C++ for edge devices.
  • Oversee testing, validation, and deployment ensuring safety and performance standards.
  • Mentor team members and foster technical growth.
  • Identify and resolve complex software/hardware issues, emphasizing scalability and reliability.
  • Promote agile and secure development practices.
What Will Make You Successful
  • 6-10+ years experience with robotic software or embedded systems in high-impact environments.
  • Proven expertise in perception, prediction, planning, or control modules.
  • Strong ownership mentality and ability to drive initiatives independently.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux, RTOS, ROS, DDS.
  • Experience with aviation standards and safety-critical coding.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and innovative solutions.
  • High productivity and commitment to impactful solutions.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
Bonus Points
  • Passion for aviation and mobility tech.
  • Experience with autonomous mobility, drones, motion planning.
  • Background in machine learning applied to robotics.
  • Familiarity with Nvidia devices and embedded systems.

This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days/week in our San Carlos, CA office. Benefits include healthcare, paid time off, stipends, wellness allowances, and a 401(k) plan.
