Base pay range

$200,000.00/yr - $235,000.00/yr

Our offices are in Berkeley and Santa Clara, California.

About this role:

We seek an experienced Staff Robotics and Controls Software Engineer to develop and lead control systems at Atomic Machines. The ideal candidate is an expert in control theory, robotics, applied physics, electro-mechanical systems, and possesses strong programming skills in real-time environments. This role involves shaping the software architecture for our automated manufacturing platform using robotics, with opportunities for leadership and technical growth. The position is based in our Santa Clara or Berkeley office, Monday-Friday.

What you'll do:
  • Guide the architecture of hardware and software systems within the Robotics and Controls team for a new manufacturing platform.
  • Develop and maintain control algorithms for robots and process functionalities for the Matter Compiler, an autonomous, lights-out manufacturing system for micron-scale electromechanical devices.
  • Support development of electromechanical and software components using models and analysis tools to understand machine behavior.
  • Develop and maintain design requirements.
What You'll Need:
  • 10+ years of experience in control systems for robotics and complex electromechanical devices.
  • Proficiency in high-level software architecture and real-time programming.
  • Deep knowledge of control theory for robotics.
  • Experience in robotics, applied physics, electro-mechanical systems, and computer science.
  • Ability to select, design, and evaluate hardware and software for advanced robotics control.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of math and physics, with application of engineering principles.
  • Creativity, inventiveness, and autonomy in dealing with ambiguity.
  • MS or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, or related engineering discipline.
