Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Pharmacist to join our dynamic team in Beltsville, MD. You will be responsible for the preparation, compounding, dispensing, and quality assurance of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with regulatory and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draw and prepare radiopharmaceutical doses, including low-energy isotopes, in accordance with customer prescriptions and regulatory standards.
  • Compound radiopharmaceuticals by eluting generators, combining materials, and ensuring accurate formulation and dosing.
  • Conduct constancy checks on dose calibrators and single-channel analyzers (SCA) to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and calibrations on survey meters, SCAs, and dose calibrators to maintain operational integrity.
  • Execute comprehensive quality control procedures on radiopharmaceutical kits and instruments, including: Bio-assays, lab wipes, and contamination surveys; sterility, pyrogenicity, and kryptofix testing: gas chromatography, thin-layer chromatography, alumina, and molybdenum breakthrough tests.
  • Operate radiation detection equipment to monitor contamination levels and document findings.
  • Prepare, pack, and label radiopharmaceutical shipments in compliance with transport regulations.
  • Monitor and support the radiation safety program, including spill response and exposure threat investigations.
  • May assume Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) responsibilities as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or in their absence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Florida.
  • Experience in nuclear pharmacy or radiopharmaceuticals is preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
