Job Role: Defence Policy & Partnerships Officer
Location: Norfolk, VA, USA
Security Clearance: Secret (or equivalent national level)
We are looking for a Defence & Security Policy Officer to support multinational defence planning, capability enhancement, training initiatives, and strategic policy development. This position is based in Norfolk, VA, USA, and requires strong expertise in global security and defence affairs
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to defence planning, capability building, education/training, strategic development, and policy formulation
- Prepare and deliver high-level briefings for senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Assist in drafting and refining policies, directives, and organizational processes
- Collaborate with military headquarters, international bodies, and allied/partner nations
- Conduct research, analysis, and reporting on defence and security matters.
- Support and facilitate meetings, workshops, and multinational conferences (travel requirement: up to 30 days/year).
Requirements
- Master's degree (or higher) in International Relations, Security Studies, Defence Studies, Political Science, or a related field; or completion of military staff college (OF-3+).
- Demonstrated experience in defence, international security, military operations, or international cooperation
- Prior work with NATO, UN, EU, or comparable international organizations (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of defence planning, capability development, and/or security sector reform
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
