Summary of Position:

Patriot Rail Company seeks a self-motivated, team-oriented attorney capable of managing assignments with minimal supervision. The Staff Attorney will assist with in-house legal matters, focusing on employment-related issues and claims management. The ideal candidate will possess excellent research, writing, negotiation, and communication skills, with keen attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform legal research and analysis.

Provide guidance to Human Resources on employment matters, including hiring, termination, discipline, promotion, performance management, and company policies.

Draft and review contracts, agreements, and legal documents.

Support business units with legal guidance on operational issues.

Conduct due diligence on various matters such as business contracts, M&A, and policy compliance.

Assist with litigation and regulatory issues.

Advise on company risk management, including insurance oversight and claims management.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the Florida Bar or eligible for certification as house counsel in Florida.
• Preferably with railroad experience, but not mandatory.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, in-house or law firm.
• Experience in employment law, litigation management, and contract drafting preferred.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
• Strong reasoning skills to solve practical problems.
• Proficiency with legal research tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and internet software.
• Must pass background check and drug test prior to employment.
• Valid driver's license required.
