Summary of Position: The Indiana Wesleyan University Division of Music + Theatre seeks a staff accompanist to support the division through collaboration with private studio instruction, ensembles, academic courses, and theatrical productions. The ability to sight-read and/or learn music quickly in a variety of styles is essential, along with strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit. (For part-time staff accompanists, the load will not exceed 25 hours per week including the rehearsal time.)Duties and Responsibilities* Accompanying weekly lessons and rehearsal for upper-level music students* Accompanying senior recitals, Young Performer Series recitals, Upper Divisional examinations, juries, Departmental recitals and freshman auditions* Accompanying rehearsals for any musical or opera production* Playing for choral or any other ensemble groups when necessary* Working in cooperation with the accompanist coordinator of the schoolQualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.Education* The candidate must hold a minimum of Bachelor's degree in piano performance (Master's preferred), have excellent sight-reading ability, and experience in collaborative pianoExperience* Experience accompanying at the undergraduate level is a must* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and culturesRequired Skills* Strong communication skills* Ability to sight-read and learn music quickly* Collaborative spiritIWU Kingdom Diversity StatementIWU, in covenant with God's reconciling work and in accordance with the Biblical principles of our historic Wesleyan tradition, commits to build a community that reflects Kingdom diversity.
