JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Strategic Advisor – Maritime Industry and Technology provides strategic and tactical guidance to the Defense Industrial Base Institute's leadership to identify, evaluate, and implement scalable solutions to build the nation's maritime industrial base. The role involves applying DIBI's collaborative research model with academia, industry, and government to identify and catalyze transformative opportunities in American shipbuilding. The advisor will work with various stakeholders to turn promising ideas into impactful initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in maritime engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 15 years of maritime industry experience, with a thorough understanding of naval and commercial shipbuilding processes.
  • Experience as a U.S. Navy officer, civilian, or contractor is preferred.
  • Extensive network within the maritime industry, including shipbuilders, suppliers, and public sector stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of challenges facing the maritime industrial base in the U.S. and allies.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • International maritime experience is a plus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Maritime industry leadership (25%): Build partnerships, develop industry advisory board, organize events, and engage private capital.
  • Technical and research leadership (25%): Provide technical guidance to research teams evaluating opportunities to increase DIB capacity.
  • Executive education leadership (25%): Develop and sustain educational programs for maritime industry leaders.
  • Strategic planning & leadership (25%): Contribute to organizational strategic planning, resource allocation, and advise on maritime industry and Navy issues.

    Compensation Grade/Pay Type: 116S

    Expected Hiring Range: $189,860.00 - $282,417.50

    Salary will depend on experience, education, and other factors. Range is reviewed regularly.
