About the job Our team builds the cloud infrastructure that powers LN's Data Science and Machine Learning Operations capability. Designing and building a robust data science/MLOps platform is a huge challenge as our organization transitions from on-prem to cloud infrastructure. This role will take point in continuing to build and improve our cloud analytics platform leveraging new cloud capabilities while optimizing costs. It will focus on building Cloud-Native/Self-Service implementations so we can offer seamless access and transparency to disparate data assets across the organization. You will be a critical member of a collaborative and forward-thinking team working with a diverse range of technologies, able to enjoy an amiable and supportive environment, and benefit from our investment in team skill-building and cross-training, where we leverage each other's strengths. This is a senior position. Responsibilities • Develop and implement Azure application infrastructure as code to support large-scale data processing, data virtualization technology, and advanced analytics • Translate requirements from technical and non-technical data scientists to appropriate cloud engineering requirements • Interact with data storage technologies such as relational databases, NoSQL, and data lakes • Deploy cloud-based technologies such as data mesh, data catalog, and automatic governance systems • Design and develop workflows to automate the deployment of applications and infrastructure environments • Connect systems to remote data warehouses for data extraction using API and JDBC Connectors • Apply engineering rigor and best practices to machine learning, including CI/CD, automation, etc. • Research and explore new technology patterns and frameworks, implement standalone reference applications, or apply to existing problems • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, implement preventive measures • Collaboratively interface with teams to understand technology strategy, including new applications being authored, and backlog of enhancements to existing applications • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training • Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity • Ensuring maturation of Analytics development processes over time through flexibility and automation • Consulting and providing expertise on technical solution options, and contributing to decision-making discussions in areas such as serverless computing, containerized workloads, and big data • Remaining up-to-date on internal and industry-wide best practices related to those solutions • Evangelizing best practices for cloud architecture and the key pillars of cloud application operations • Developing and ensuring delivery of resilient infrastructure designs using Infrastructure-as-Code • Performing knowledge transfer for SRE, Application and Support team resources when needed • Diagnosing and resolving potentially complex infrastructure, integration, and application issues • Improving standardization and automation within maturing processes to enhance efficiency • Performance testing and tuning to ensure production workloads are supported • Understanding and implementing defensive, detective and corrective controls • Assisting in the development and/or implementation of comprehensive information security procedures and practices to reduce attack surfaces and comply with best practices • Augmenting project and systems documentation for technical and non-technical audiences High-Value Professional Experience and Skills • Leadership/design of application and/or infrastructure migration projects from on-prem to cloud • Proven expert in partnering and leading technology resources in solving complex business needs • Cloud architecture design and implementation to solve key business needs and meet team goals • Experience with Terraform • Experience with GitHub Actions • Deep knowledge of Azure Networking including private endpoints, private DNS zones, peerings, NSG rules, route tables, and VNETs. • Experience with Azure Function Apps • Knowledge of IaaS in Azure • Understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, including RBAC, service principals, managed identities • Expertise in a scripting language, either PowerShell or Bash. • Experience implementing data virtualization technologies • Experience managing cloud storage technologies (blob, table, file, queues, and services) • Strong and enthusiastic technologist, able to demonstrate broad technical cloud knowledge Other Desirable Professional Experience and Skills • Performance analysis and tuning • Hashicorp Vault • Jira Basic Professional Experience and Skills • Knowledge of SDLC and change control, and associated procedures • Common source code control tools and repositories • Ability to describe and discuss technical solutions with various audiences We are committed to providing a fair and accessible hiring process.
