POSITION: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for a Sr. Scientific Engineer Associate in Berkeley, CA. Duties: Lead in the design, setup and conduct of laboratory and field experiments related to fundamental hydrological, mechanical and biogeochemical processes in soils, sediments and rocks. Setup and conduct laboratory analysis of geomaterial samples. Conduct data processes, analytics and communicate results to the research group. Develop and apply numerical methods, including machine learning tools, to improve understanding of hydro biogeochemical processes, such as evapotranspiration and carbon/nutrient dynamics. Aid in sensor development, testing, and calibration. These could be prototype, one-of-a-kind, or replicated measurement systems. Write data processing and visualization codes using R, Matlab, Python, Jupyter notebook, or C . Lead or contribute to scientific publications and presentations. May telecommute.
