Luster National Inc., a minority-owned small business headquartered in Mill Valley, California, with offices nationwide, and a highly respected Program, Project, Construction and Consulting Management company, is seeking a Sr. Safety Manager with experience in the aviation sector. This will be a long-term, full-time, on-site role in Queens, NY.

About the Position

In an aviation environment, the incumbent will develop and direct strategy for corporate Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS) compliance programs for heavy civil infrastructure and largescale vertical projects. They will be a driven achiever with a diverse background in heavy design build construction settings with strengths that include building strong cohesive teams and developing cost-effective EHS programs that align with contract terms and conditions. They should be adept in the identification, mitigation, validation and certification of program and project level safety and security plans. Additionally, they should be a strategic leader with a proven track record of building and leading effective cross-functional, complex multi-billion-dollar program teams.

Responsibilities

  • Drive awareness and accountability for EHS performance through all levels of organizations.
  • Provide support across responsible functional teams, including divisional/area EHS Managers, HR Business Partners, and Site Safety Representatives to assure compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Analyze and advise organizations on impact of business decisions on EHS.
  • Develop traffic control plans.
  • Provide follow-up on initial legal steps to launch investigations to determine best practices and develop comprehensive safety cultures.
  • Prepare and present construction quality/safety related indoctrination and training sessions to project personnel as required by QA/QC policies and procedures. Training to include classroom and over the shoulder classes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, safety, or related field.
  • 15+ years experience in safety management, preferably in an aviation setting. This experience must include leadership on projects in the multi-billion-dollar range.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish.
  • Successful completion of OSHA 500 course.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficiency in company safety/construction applications/programs, processes, and tools.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree in safety.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation strongly preferred.
  • Multi-lingual in English, Spanish, and other languages.

Compensation Details

The salary range listed for this role is $225-300K annually. The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidate s level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
