The Senior Quality Engineer collaborates with production, engineering, finished goods, customer service, service centers, supply chain management, purchasing, OSP suppliers, and Corporate Supplier Quality to ensure adherence to processes and that outcomes meet or exceed expectations. This role leads in advanced quality planning, supplier quality feedback, process improvements, and continual improvement initiatives.

  • Support New Product Development and Change Management with internal Engineering, Global Supplier Quality, Supply Chain Management, and external Service Providers (OSP).
  • Enhance Advanced Quality Planning activities within product development and sourcing, including measurement devices.
  • Assist in print requirements for NPD and Change Management with internal and external partners.
  • Develop and maintain Outside Service Suppliers (OSP's), ensuring compliance with Zurn Elkay standards for various finishing and coating processes.
  • Train and support OSPs on quality tools such as APQP, MSA, SPC, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and work instructions.
  • Support QA Technician activities as needed.
  • Develop and maintain QMS documentation.
  • Manage calibration systems according to IAPMO standards.
  • Perform and approve First Article Inspections.
  • Ensure manufacturing and service processes follow quality standards.
  • Perform incoming inspections using FARO arm, CAD drawings, and other tools.
  • Conduct internal quality audits per ISO 9001, IAPMO, and organizational standards.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and process audits, documenting and following up on actions.
  • Prioritize and respond to customer quality concerns using SCAR/CAPA processes, working cross-functionally to resolve issues.
  • Report supplier nonconformances through the appropriate systems.
  • Coordinate containment and analysis of nonconforming materials.
  • Manage Cost of Quality data.
  • Support Applications Engineering and Operations in clarifying production prints and documenting organizational knowledge.
  • Develop product knowledge across platforms and mentor Quality Technicians.
  • Maintain quality records and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Attend trade shows to benchmark measurement system improvements.
  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering.
    • Experience working with suppliers and achieving results aligned with schedules.
    • Understanding of print dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Knowledge of 8D Problem Solving, ISO 9001, IAPMO, UL, NSF standards.
    • Project management skills with a focus on follow-through.
    • Ability to set targets and develop actionable plans.
    • Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen knowledge (a plus).
    • Experience working with hand gauges and machining/foundry/sheet metal backgrounds (a plus).
    • FARO or CMM knowledge (a plus).
