Senior Logistics and Purchasing Analyst - Agriculture Sector

Job Summary

The Senior Logistics and Purchasing Analyst is responsible for managing procurement operations and optimizing logistics processes to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods to VMA customers. This role ensures efficient sourcing, inventory control, and transportation of goods while supporting sustainability and cost-effectiveness across the agricultural supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Agricultural Logistics

Manage end-to-end logistics for agricultural products, including raw materials and finished goods.

Develop and implement logistics plans, procedures, and performance metrics

Coordinate with commercial team, growers, distributors, and third-party logistics providers

Address disruptions and implement contingency plans to maintain product flow

Monitor weather, harvest cycles, and market conditions to adjust logistics plans

Ensure compliance with hazardous material and customs regulations

Purchasing

Source agricultural inputs from domestic and international suppliers

Negotiate contracts and maintain strong vendor relationships

Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and seasonal demand

Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs

Collaborate with Finance teams for reporting and compliance

Data Analysis & Reporting

Develop KPI dashboards and reports for senior management

Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (Master's preferred)

5+ years of experience in agricultural logistics and procurement

Hazardous material shipping certification

Strong relationship building, problem solving, and negotiation skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Proficiency in Sage Intacct or other ERP software, Excel, and data visualization tools

Knowledge of agricultural cycles, sustainability practices, and regulatory compliance

Preferred Attributes

Experience with international sourcing and export logistics

Certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, or PMP
