The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Senior Insights Specialist for Safety & Industrial Business Group divisions, which are serving the global industrial, electrical and safety markets, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. In this role, you will impact strategic decisions in portfolio management, R&D, segment marketing, and integrated marketing by delivering customer and market insights through Voice of Customer (VOC) and market intelligence techniques and tools.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Building relationships with key cross-functional teams within the assigned divisions to gain a comprehensive understanding of global business and product portfolio and applying this knowledge to derive insights from project findings with clear conclusions for both the project and the brand overall.
- Collaborating with business partners in the assigned divisions to identify strategic business questions and knowledge gaps that can be addressed using Insights and VOC and developing annual learning plans.
- Building research credibility through extensive exposure to methods and techniques for identifying, defining, and sizing creative insights to inform customer growth opportunities.
- Guiding business partners in the assigned divisions on selecting the appropriate research approach and providing rationale, while also advocating for the necessary organizational resources and budgets to ensure successful execution.
- Ensures the annual learning plan is accurately conducted according to schedule and budget.
- Leading and executing all phases of research projects from scoping (costs, timing, vendor) through delivery of recommendations and application.
- Synthesizing multiple data sources, including primary, secondary, and other internal/external data to develop strategic findings, make action-oriented conclusions and communicate a clear point of view.
- Preparing and presenting insights to diverse business audiences while influencing decision-making at higher levels.
- Aligning and collaborating with the global Insights team and colleagues across the Global Marketing Center to promote comprehensive research sharing across boundaries.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Seven (7) combined years of experience in market customer/consumer research and/or analytics in a private, public, government, or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- MBA or graduate studies in insights/analytics/psychology field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
- B2B Insights experience.
- Knowledge/experience with Decipher, Qualtrics, SPSS, and other Insights/analytics tools.
- Knowledge/experience with AI-powered market research tools for trend and sentiment analysis, competitive intelligence, social listening, survey automation, and data visualization, enhancing productivity in work and learning processes.
- Strong interpersonal and consultative skills including exceptional critical thinking skills, business savvy and executive poise with a history of influencing others. Comfortable with pushing back for what's right for the customer.
- Nearly independent, strong project management and organization skills, highly detail oriented, ability to manage multiple projects across different businesses and categories.
- Comfortable with ambiguity of international/matrix operations, adaptable, self-motivated.

Travel: May include up to 20% (2 to 3 weeks annual total)
