We're assisting a well-funded product and research startup with their search for a Sr. Frontend Platform Engineer to work on one of their consumer apps. The role will be onsite in their NY office. What you'll do:
- Work directly with the CTO to build and ship new product features (screens, dashboards, UIs, interactive experiences) users will love
- Create visualizations and insights based on user media consumption data
- Help architect and scale the frontend for performance and maintainability
- Collaborate closely with product team - including the CEO, designer and user researcher.
- Make key technical decisions across the stack
- Be responsible for crafting scalable front-end architecture.
- Ensure code and product quality.
- Implement engineering best practices across development and deployment.
- Guide/mentor other engineers
What you'll bring:
- 5+ years of experience architecting frontend systems for performance and scale. Should have demonstrated ability to lead architectural decisions for frontend systems, ideally in fast-growing startups.
- Experience building customer-facing product features with complex UIs
- Experience in early product development (taking features from 0 to 1)
- History of cross-functional collaboration with designers and product teams
- Experience working at an early-stage or high-growth startup, ideally working on consumer-facing applications or platforms
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong TypeScript and React skills and experience
- Experience with frontend architecture and state management
- Some full-stack capabilities (ability to work with databases when needed)
- Performance optimization skills (bonus would be experience with complex UIs and 3D elements)
- Knowledge of optimal data fetching patterns and rendering optimization
- Pragmatic product engineering mindset; knows when to take on technical debt, descope features, work on architecture, and prioritize enablers.
- Collaborative mindset--experience working closely with other product/design/engineering teams, comfortable with some organized chaos
