As a**Sr. Fiber Optics Field Technician**, youll play a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optic networks that power homes, businesses, and industries. This dynamic role keeps you out in the field, working with cutting-edge technology to ensure seamless communication networks. Each day brings variety and challenge, whether you're mentoring others or leading a team, installing fiber lines, troubleshooting network issues, or working at heights and in confined spacesall while honing your technical expertise. Whether you're new to fiber optics or bring years of experience, we provide opportunities for growth through hands-on training in fiber splicing, testing, and network troubleshooting. Most importantly, this is a job with impactyour work helps build and sustain the high-speed networks that keep businesses, communities, and industries connected.## What You'll Do

  • Safely perform work in communications and energized spaces
  • Participate in work requiring pole climbing and an elevated position in a bucket truck
  • Lead cable stripping, cleaving, terminating, and testing
  • Proficiently work with and calibrate fiber optic equipment such as splicers, OTDR (optical time domain refractometer), traffic identifiers, light-source power-meter, fiber specific hand tools, etc.
  • Perform ring cuts on live fiber without affecting existing services
  • Troubleshoot and repair common fiber optic equipment and component issues to include advanced OTDR testing, reporting, and troubleshooting
  • Complete documentation to include record-keeping, billing, inventory, etc.
  • Generate trace reports and SEP (splice engineering package) files
  • Calculate fiber optic facility attenuation budget
  • Responsible for leading, mentoring, and training field staff and multiple crews
Working Conditions
  • Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
  • Climb poles; carry, set-up and extend ladders weighing up to 65 pounds, as well as work with confidence on ladders and utility poles at heights of up to 60 feet in t e air to perform tasks in communications spaces
  • Work indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditions
  • Able to walk long distances
  • Able to lift up to 65 pounds without assistance
