Primary Purpose

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join ComEd. This role offers opportunities for growth and development in a supportive and innovative environment. The position may require extended hours during storms or energy emergencies.

Primary Duties

  • Lead and perform assignments in specialized engineering areas, maintaining state-of-the-art credentials.
  • Manage engineering projects with significant financial and operational impact, including field testing, troubleshooting, and peer review.
  • Develop and lead projects, including initial commissioning plans and documentation.
  • Participate in department planning, attend meetings, provide budget recommendations, and monitor performance.
  • Work independently, lead multidisciplinary teams, and oversee contractors.
  • Serve as a technical expert and provide expert opinions when required.
  • Recommend improvements to management for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical training, mentorship, and peer reviews.
  • Participate in industry societies and committees, and advise on new technologies and strategies.

  • Apply technical knowledge to promote safety and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or Licensed Structural Engineer.
  • 7+ years of professional engineering experience.
  • Ability to analyze complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of standards, codes, and practices.
  • Ability to apply advanced engineering principles.
  • Experience in technical responsibilities, industry committees, or holding a PE license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Structural Engineering.
  • 4+ years of project site design experience in land development and mass grading.
  • Civil design experience including commercial and residential development, stormwater management, and hydrology.
  • Proficiency with RISA 3D, AutoCAD, and other engineering software.
  • Strong communication skills.
