Sr. Data Engineer- SQL Server Expert with Investment experience

Position: Sr Data Engineer

You will be working with a skilled team and help in defining the future of their data platform environment. You will be an expert in SQL Server with strong Data Pipeline experience and knowledge of innovative tools including Fivetran, dbt, AirFlow to help them move to the best solution.

Our client is developing a next generation data analytics platform with the core component of the platform to analyze portfolio, external investment managers and the ad hoc analysis of market sectors. They need a Sr. Database Developer/ Architect with deep relational database, data warehouse, cloud database and financial analytics experience to help build the platform.

This existing database in SQL needs to be supported and maintained, but is mostly going to migrate over to Snowflake.

Day to day:

* Provides hands on development expertise and leadership in product development with functional capabilities in portfolio management and investment selection

* Takes a lead role in all phases of application development, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment

* Evaluates and selects the appropriate technology to support the analytical and data storage business needs

* Coordinates and prioritizes tasks within the software development lifecycle in conjunction with the entire software team.

* Is a database leader who contributes to peer code reviews and helps increase the database skills of the entire team

* Contributes to the ongoing enhancement of DevOps processes and procedures

* Leads development of test plans and provides technical support in all phases of testing and QA.

Must haves:

* Bachelor s degree in computer science or other relevant discipline

* 8+ years experience overall

* Expert proficiency with SQL development experience including SQL Server

*Investment/Financial Services experience

* Experience with cloud-based databases such as Snowflake, Google BigQuery or Amazon RDS

* Familiar with data pipelines and data transformations

* Experience with AWS & cloud services

* Familiar with automated testing, DevOps and CI/CD

* MUST HAVE Excellent communication (ability to interact with the business and data science team)
