Overall Purpose

This role advises and provides legal support to the company's digital wallet and payments businesses, advising business teams on a broad range of legal matters, including regulatory compliance, product development, and commercial transactions.

Essential Functions
  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel and advice on complex issues to the wallet and payments teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Advise on, draft, review, and negotiate various complex commercial agreements and strategic technology transactions with financial institutions, merchant acquirers, payment gateways, processors, and service providers.
  • Manage large-scale initiatives proactively and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to meet business objectives.
  • Stay informed of legislative, regulatory, and industry developments affecting the business.
  • Partner with Risk and other Legal Department teams to provide solutions-oriented support, balancing potential legal and regulatory risks.
  • Support the company's commitment to protecting system and data integrity and confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and admission to one or more State bars.
  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience.
  • Experience advising on digital wallets, payment systems, and negotiating complex commercial agreements in the payments industry.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to learn quickly and support new areas of regulation and technology.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and business acumen skills.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset and high professional ethics.
Physical Requirements

Primarily sedentary work in a normal office environment, requiring extensive computer use, sitting, occasional standing, walking, reaching, and the ability to lift 10 pounds. Must have visual acuity, dexterity, and effective communication skills. Must perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Salary ranges vary by location, with additional incentives and benefits. For example, in Phoenix and Chicago, the range is $200,000 - $230,000, and in New York and San Francisco, it is $230,000 - $260,000. Compensation is subject to change and based on various factors including experience, location, and market conditions.
