My client, a large leading heavy civil construction company, specializing in environmental reclamation, industrial infrastructure, water quality infrastructure, and transportation logistics is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale construction projects, overseeing teams, budgets, and timelines, while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
The Senior Construction Project Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall planning, execution, and completion of a large mining project, ensuring it meets quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Manage project teams, including subcontractors, engineers, and onsite personnel, to achieve project goals.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including those of OSHA, MSHA, and environmental standards.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and government agencies.
- Prepare and present project reports, forecasts, and updates to senior management.
Scope of Work
The Senior Project Manager will oversee a variety of tasks critical to the large mining project, including:
- Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor project staff to ensure high performance and safety.
- Budget Management: Track costs, approve expenditures, and manage financial reporting.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks and develop contingency plans.
- Quality Control: Implement quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with all project stakeholders.
- Closeout: Oversee project completion, including final inspections and documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management within the construction or mining industry, with at least five years in a senior role.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale projects on time and within budget.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Financial ERPs, Estimating and Tracking software).
- The ability to make strategic decisions under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; PMP certification preferred.
