The Lead Data Manager acts as the primary data management contact for one or more assigned projects and serves as a liaison between Data Management, Project Leads, clients, and other internal teams. This role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end data management process, ensuring high-quality deliverables are completed on time and within budget, and guiding junior staff in their responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership & Oversight:
- Lead all data management activities for high-volume or complex studies from start-up through close-out.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines, scope, quality standards, and budget.
- Directly apply protocol knowledge to data management processes and guide others in doing the same.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding data management tasks.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Prepare and present study-specific status reports to clients and project leadership.
- Risk Management & Reporting:
- Monitor and analyze study metrics; escalate issues as appropriate based on organizational risk management processes.
- Identify potential out-of-scope activities and participate in the contract modification process.
- Team Leadership & Mentoring:
- Delegate tasks to team members and ensure timely and quality completion of project activities.
- Mentor and train junior data management staff on study processes and systems.
- Act as a departmental resource and subject matter expert in data management processes.
- Resource & Budget Management:
- Assist in project resource forecasting and timeline planning.
- Support the oversight of project budgets and resource allocation.
- Contribute to identification and justification of out-of-scope work.
- Business Development Support:
- Participate in bid defense meetings and contribute to proposal development when needed.
- Represent Data Management in client-facing discussions during the business development process.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in life sciences, computer science, health sciences, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant clinical data management experience.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex or high-volume clinical studies.
