Navy Mutual is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior Actuary (FP&A) to lead financial planning and analysis efforts across our lines of business. This role is pivotal in driving strategic insights through modeling, forecasting, and reinsurance administration. You'll be at the heart of our financial decision-making, helping shape the future of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
Own the Profit & Loss (P&L) by Line of Business (LOB)
- Conduct Source of Earnings (SOE) analysis
- Review input data for reasonableness
- Maintain and update actuarial assumptions
- Making revisions in AXIS model
- Conducts monthly actual vs. expected analysis by LOB
- Assist in explaining results to internal management
- Maintain and propose improvements to Association's budget and annual projection models, currently Excel based; utilize projection models to assist Senior Management with ongoing financial planning; upgrade models to function more smoothly with better transparency and documentation; automate feeds from other systems, where possible; perform variance analysis of actual vs projected results
- Deliver clear, actionable insights to senior management
Total Company Model
- Support annual preparation of the Total Company Model (TCM)
- Update actuarial and non-actuarial assumptions
- Refine expense analysis and assumptions
- Assist in interpreting and presenting results
Reinsurance Administration
- Responsible for building reinsurance process into Policy Administration System (ACHIEVE) and monitoring results:
- Providing specifications for reinsurance premium calculations
- Assuring accuracy of input data
- Reviewing / verifying results
- Transferring reinsurance claim processing to Claims Department
- Coordinating with external reinsurer(s)
- Monitoring reinsurance arrangements, proposing changes when appropriate
- Prepare and maintain documentation of reinsurance program
Additional Actuarial Functions
- Conduct Risk-Based Capital analysis by LOB
- Respond to external auditor requests
- Perform ad hoc actuarial analyses as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of demonstrated ,progressive actuarial experience
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) required; Member of the Academy of Actuaries designation is a plus
- Expert-level proficiency in AXIS actuarial software
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively
- Experience with database query tools and programming applications preferred
Salary Range: $180,000.00 - $230,000.00 per year
