Job Description: As a SQL Server and Database Administrator, you need to provide support for various applications and SQL Servers. This individual will work independently and in a team setting, collaborating with Database Administrators, Developers, and Networking/Server teams. The role involves database management, SQL Server administration, and ensuring the integrity and security of databases supporting key educational systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform database management activities using Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019.
- Install and configure database software.
- Analyze, design, and review logical and physical data models.
- Support the application system development lifecycle.
- Perform data analysis, correction activities, and migrations.
- Review and migrate stored procedures; recommend performance improvements.
- Write and use SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and PowerShell scripts.
- Enforce established database standards and monitor performance.
- Analyze and resolve database performance issues.
- Assist with database version upgrades and migrations.
- Ensure appropriate database access security and integrity.
- Oversee database backup procedures and disaster recovery.
- Assist with database server infrastructure and software analysis.
- Collaborate in a team environment and provide clear communication.
- Estimate and schedule tasks with minimal supervision.
- Use Azure DevOps for source control, work item management, and documentation versioning.
- Report progress to the Database Administration Section Chief and Application Leads.
- Stay updated on new database features and recommend improvements.
- Represent the Database Administration team at status meetings and provide insights on best practices.
Required Skills, Experience, Education, and Competencies:
- Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019.
- Strong background in database design, analysis, and performance tuning.
- Proficient with SSIS and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with database migrations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of database security, access control, and integrity practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working within a team environment.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps for source control and work management.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
