Job Description In this role, you will oversee the management and maintenance of mission-critical database environments, ensuring optimal performance, robust security, and high reliability in compliance with DoD standards.
Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with a diverse IT team to manage the configuration, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of systems for optimal performance.
- Proactively identify and report server performance issues that could impact operations.
- Ensure daily operational efficiency, including monitoring, problem-solving, and performance analysis of database servers, systems, and applications.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of databases and related products, adhering to organizational standards and requirements.
- Provide comprehensive database administration, including installation, configuration, maintenance, patching, upgrading, and security measures.
- Engage in database design, structure identification, schema definition, access privilege management, query optimization, and documentation.
- Collaborate with application owners and developers to align database performance with their needs.
- Maintain database dictionaries, monitor standards and procedures, and integrate systems through thoughtful database design.
- Undertake necessary actions to maintain database availability and online status for applications and users.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications: - Active DOD TS/SCI level security clearance, with eligibility for CI Poly.
- IAT Level II Baseline Certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP).
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with 4-8 years of related experience (additional experience may be considered in place of a degree).
- Proficiency in installing, upgrading, and patching MS SQL databases.
- Demonstrated experience in database backup and restoration.
- Adherence to DOD security requirements and best practices for SQL Database administration.
- Experience with SQL 2012 or higher and Windows Server.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications: - MCSA SQL certification.
- Prior experience with DISA and its mission partners.
- Preference for candidates with TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance.
