Sports Coordinator - Emma B. Northeast Family YMCA (Healthcare)

The Emma B. Howe YMCA in Coon Rapids (Northtown) is seeking a dedicated, part-time Sports Coordinator for our Adult Basketball League with a passion for sports and activities.

The salary for this position starts at $17.00 hourly. Salary offers are based on individual background and experience, and the total compensation package includes various benefits and earned time off, depending on part-time or full-time status.

Job Summary:

The Sports Coordinator assists in managing the sports program, which includes organizing, delivering, and administering sports leagues, recreation programs, and activities for youth and adults. The role may involve supervising sports staff.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist in implementing sports programs, including organizing and administering leagues and activities.
  • Ensure excellent customer service to enhance member and participant experience.
  • Manage daily programming to meet revenue, program, and expense goals.
  • Deliver sports programs directly to members and participants.
  • Provide work direction to sports staff when needed.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training staff and volunteers.
Relationships:

This position reports to the Sports Director/Sr. Sports Director, who reports to the Executive Director. The incumbent collaborates with branch and sports program teams and other staff.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • At least one year of experience in sports programs.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage sports activities.
  • Knowledge of sports rules.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Creative thinking and innovative programming experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.

Preferred:

  • Multilingual abilities.
Physical Demands:

Ability to actively participate in youth games and activities. Ability to travel locally to YMCA branches and program sites.
