Details: Department MWF Mission, Schedule: 8AM-4:30 PM, Monday - Friday with some variances, Hospital: St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, Location: On-site

Responsibilities

As a Spiritual Care Manager, you will lead and manage a continuum of spiritual care services across a ministry market region that aligns with the professional standards of chaplaincy. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Assure that sacramental ministry, spiritual support, and spiritual assessment is provided by the Spiritual Services team.
  • Assure the timely provision of spiritual support to patient, families and associates, including a process to provide on-call support in times of loss, spiritual distress, or crisis.
  • Provide clinical consultation and development opportunities and theological reflection for staff chaplains in their region.
  • Assure Spiritual Services team is appropriately trained and credentialed.
  • Mentor chaplains in their region who are seeking board certification to ensure they are doing so according to established timelines in order to meet credentialing requirements.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Board Certification from the APC, NACC, CASC, or NAJC (or certification obtained within 2 years of hire, risking termination if not obtained within timeframe) is required.

Education:

  • Master's degree in Theology, Spirituality, Social Work, Divinity, Philosophy, Servant Leadership, Human Behavior, Pastorial Studies, or related field is required.

Work Experience:

  • 2 years of experience required.
Additional Preferences

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 5+ years of Chaplain experience in a Healthcare Setting
  • Nationally Board Certified Chaplain from APC, NAJC or NACC
  • Ordination, licensing or commissioning by one's faith group and ecclesiastical endorsement (or eligible for endorsement) by a recognized faith group for ministry as a Chaplain in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to listen to understand, and to minister to the specific spiritual needs of all department members
  • Knowledge of congregational and denominational structures including the Ethical and Religious Directives of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
  • Knowledge of community health resources in the urban and rural settings
  • Administrative skill and experience in supervising staff
  • Ability to work effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to function as an integrated member of site leadership and spiritual care teams
  • Ability to provide guidance and leadership in emergency or unforeseeable situations
