Job DescriptionPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Following supervisor instructions to prepare wind tower sections for fabrication operations, set up, and operate the sub-arc welder.
  • Welding, grinding, and repairing wind tower sections before presenting them to Quality Inspectors; repairing all seaming defects as directed.
  • Working primarily independently, with essential tools and welding equipment provided; employee is responsible for maintaining and being accountable for tools and equipment.
  • Ensuring timely and efficient work to deliver a quality product without manufacturing defects.
  • Actively participating in department safety and demonstrating excellent safety practices and behaviors in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean & organized work area; utilize safe work habits.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and departmental works instructions.
  • To contribute to general improvements in the quality of key activities within the department.
  • Comply with all NOV and HSE procedures and policies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment and/or at least 1 year of fabrication experience (preferred).
  • Understanding of spiral mill operations and forming processes is preferred.
  • Solid grasp of welding procedures and practices, including the ability to perform basic math and work with U.S. and metric measurements.
  • Successful completion of an AWS welder qualification test and the ability to use sub-arc welding equipment without difficulty.
  • Graduation certificate from an accredited trade school (preferred).
  • American Welding Society (AWS) welding certification (preferred).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Knowledge of welding properties for a variety of metals and alloys.
  • Ability to identify and communicate production or maintenance problems to departmental supervision.
  • Motivated and safety-conscious, with a strong sense of integrity and dedication to achieving high-performance standards in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend/stoop, push/pull and repetitive movement up to 12 hours daily.
  • Able to work well in a team environment as well as self-directed when working independently.
  • Willingness to comply with all safety policies, PPE requirements, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties.
  • Ability to multitask in fast paced environment.
  • Factory environment with large range in temperature changes.
