Position Type: Special Education Services/Speech Language Therapy Assistant Date Posted: 5/29/2025 Location: Corporation Date Available: 08/01/2025 Closing Date: Until Filled Job Title: Speech/Language Therapy Assistant Reports To: Principal or Special Education Director and Speech/Language Pathologist Type of Position: Full Time/Classified Hours: Varies Job Duties:Plans and carries out speech and language programs to enable children with Speech and/or Language Impairments achieve and adjust by performing the following duties under the supervision of a Master's level Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP). General Description
- Assists in speech, language and hearing screenings to identify children in need of diagnostic evaluations.
- Plans for and conducts therapy with individual and small groups in self-contained, resource and inclusive settings under the supervision of SLP.
- Works in collaboration with speech/language pathologists, teachers, parents, instructional assistants, related service personnel and students to implement Individualized Education Programs.
- Assists in promotion of positive behavior systems per school/corporation guidelines and policies.
- Knows and complies with all federal, state and local rules and regulations governing special edu-cation programming and service provision, including ASHA and state guidelines for the scope of practice for SLPSs.
- Maintains regular attendance and arrives to assigned school punctually.
- May require corporation approved Safe Crisis Management training.
Qualification Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in speech/language
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, lesson plans and manuals. Ability to take date on student performance and write correspondences. Ability to effectively present information to supervising SLP, school administrators and faculty.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Must have a working knowledge of computers and their capabilities. Must have a valid driver's license.
