Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (Inpatient/Outpatient)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Shift: 5x8 Hours (40 hours/week) | Flexible to consider part-time candidates
Contract Length: 20 Weeks | Possibility for extension or conversion based on business needs
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to provide inpatient dysphagia, speech, and language services to infants and children with neurological, developmental, and medically based communication and feeding/swallowing disorders.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing both inpatient and outpatient clinical assessments and interventions.
- Performing video-fluoroscopic swallow studies.
- Consulting with medical and therapy personnel.
- Educating and training patients, families, healthcare professionals, and the community.
Inpatient rehabilitation experience is preferred.
Job Responsibilities
Patient Care:
- Independently evaluate patients with suspected or known communication disorders (speech, language, oral motor dysfunction).
- Utilize both standardized and non-standardized evaluation tools.
- Develop individualized therapy plans, set goals, and document progress.
- Communicate evaluation findings, progress, and recommendations with families and healthcare teams.
- Provide family/caregiver training for home therapy programs.
- Collaborate with healthcare and educational staff to enhance patient communication skills.
Administration:
- Participate in departmental staff meetings, continuing education, quality improvement projects, and workgroups.
- Assist with protocol development and equipment/supplies management.
Education:
- Provide teaching and consultative services within the hospital and externally.
- Mentor students, clinical fellows, and professional observers.
Skills & Technical Requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to work independently.
- High-level competency in pediatric speech and language assessment procedures.
- Fundamental research knowledge (methodology, design, and statistics).
Requirements
- Education: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Licensure:
- License in Speech-Language Pathology from PA and/or NJ (or eligibility, must obtain within 3 months of hire).
- CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology) required upon hire.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of licensed experience.
- Pediatric, medically based setting experience preferred.
