Job Description :
The focus of this role is providing highly technical underwriting expertise in the inland marine and property space to aid in the establishment of underwriting policies, risk analysis and assessment, coverage evaluation, pricing, statutory compliance and new business development. You will also be involved in analyzing the company's exposures, hazards, financial ratios, commercial property insurance coverage, inland marine insurance coverage, loss history, pricing targets, and desired programs. You'll manage top- and bottom-line performance for assigned property and inland marine lines of business to hit targeted results. You'll lead the development and maintenance of products, technical underwriting guidelines, and monitoring profitability to achieve financial objectives.

This position will report to a Sentry office location or has the potential to work remotely from home.

What You'll Do:

The focus of a Specialty Program Manager is providing highly technical underwriting expertise in the inland marine and property program space. This position will work with existing program managers as well as vet and on-board new programs. In addition, you will…

  • Provide technical expertise and authorization on specific underwriting and operational decisions including underwriting guidelines, referrals and program manager audits.

  • Manage a sizable and complex book of property and inland marine program business by analyzing the portfolio, identifying areas of opportunity for improved growth, profit and diversification.

  • Work with internal partners and external program managers on:

    • Form development and state specific requirements

    • Coverage evaluation

    • Pricing recommendations

    • New business development

  • Provide recommendations for proper usage and placement of facultative and treaty reinsurance.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic specialty program initiatives in support of corporate growth and profit objectives.

What it Takes:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • 8+ years of related work experience, with 5 years of experience in underwriting property and inland marine products/coverages

  • Experience with AAIS and ISO products, both admitted and non-admitted experience, is highly preferred

  • CPCU Certification is preferred

  • Effective analytical, human relations, and communications skills

  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to travel as necessary to satisfactorily complete their job responsibilities
