Systems Specialist - Process Control Technician

The Systems Specialist - Process Control Technician functions independently, volunteers engineered solutions to identified process control issues, maintains accurate records and change logs, is project-oriented, and provides advanced control troubleshooting techniques and programming enhancements to optimize existing or implement new process control equipment. Additionally, the Process Control Technician identifies key best practices and applies them across all NTM Pittsfield locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct self and job tasks in a safe manner, following proper work procedures
  • Identify areas for process control improvement using historical and real-time data
  • First Order Response control loop tuning - flows, pressures, temperatures
  • Maintain, optimize, and implement control system firmware and software upgrades
  • Maintain backup copies and processes to ensure high-quality current backups
  • Edit, Add, Modify Historian data collection tags
  • ISRA inspection system optimization, maintenance, and general configuration
  • Maintain and improve HMI representations and IO servers
  • Complete timely, on budget, small-scale process control projects
  • Engage local distributors to identify and implement new technology platforms
  • Look for opportunities to increase production efficiency and eliminate waste
  • Lead PMs in inter-trade cross-training efforts, instruments or devices controlled or tied by PLC
  • Competencies:

    • Wonderware InTouch Suite, including graphic design, tag creation, IO server, and Historian
    • Allen-Bradley PLC platform programming and configuration tools
    • ISRA and Cognex Inspection System Optimization and Configuration
    • Research and maintain process control software to current revisions and standards
    • First Order Process loop tuning and bump test analysis
    • Work closely with production personnel to identify potential control improvements
    • Ability to work calmly under pressure
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Ability to work as part of a team and support co-workers

    Qualifications:

    • Process Control Technician
    • Craft Leader
    • Demonstrated Allen-Bradley PLC platform programming and configuration tools
    • Demonstrated Wonderware Suite competency; InTouch, Historian, and IO Servers
    • Demonstrated inspection system maintenance and optimization
    • Demonstrated First Order Process Loop Tuning and Bump Tests
    • Professional educational coursework in Process Control Engineering
    • Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic circuits
    • Strong computer skills and analytical aptitude
    • Valid drivers license with reliable transportation

    Schedule: Full Time, generally 1st shift, 6 am to 2 pm, with shared on-call responsibilities.
