Summary and Purpose of Position:
*This is a temporary, grant-funded position that may be renewed annually, contingent upon availability of grant funding and performance reviews. This position is eligible for paid time off and benefits.
This position participates in the development and execution of a comprehensive admissions and student recruitment program, with a specific emphasis on recruiting, outreach, and enrollment for Adult, Readmit, and Transfer students, as well as the enrollment of students into SUNY Reconnect. SUNY Reconnect is a New York State-funded Opportunity Promise program that makes tuition, fees, books, and supplies free for New York residents ages 25-55 without a college degree who enroll in eligible SUNY community college associate degree programs in high-demand fields. The Admissions Specialist participates in advising prospective students, developing, executing, and assessing recruitment programs on and off campus within their territory. Assists in the application of technology to support enrollment initiatives, application processing, application review, and the maintenance of an inquiry follow-up system.
Primary Functions:
This position is designed to achieve specified enrollment goals for Adult, Transfer, and Readmit student populations, with emphasis on enrollment into our programs associated with SUNY Reconnect
Provides admissions appointments in person or virtually, assisting students with program selection, career assessment support, and pre-financial aid counseling
Develops off-campus recruitment plans, including community outreach, representing MCC at community events, job fairs, and other activities within the scope of recruitment of adult students in Monroe and the surrounding counties
Develops and coordinates on- and off-campus activities associated with the recruitment at community agencies and organizations.
Develops and conducts information sessions in support of adult student enrollment, highlighting programs associated with SUNY Reconnect
Maintains a thorough knowledge of the college's reentrance requirements, curriculum, transfer, and placement outcomes of degree programs
Evaluates and makes decisions on applications for admission, assists with transfer credit, and is responsible for application review from the assigned territory
Monitors current procedures in the application/processing unit to ensure efficiency, clarity of information, and timeliness for managing territory
Maintains familiarity with the college's non-credit offerings and provides direct enrollment support to non-credit to credit students
Provides support for Adult, Transfer, and Readmit Orientation
Leans and utilizes technology and software systems that support the effective/efficient management of the College's initiatives in the areas of recruitment, marketing, and admissions processing
Secondary Functions:
Interpret relevant college policies and procedures for students, faculty, and staff
Participate in events outside of regular college hours, such as College open houses
Attend unit meetings as required
Provide coverage for another Admissions Specialist as needed
Collaboratively support Academic and Student Affairs initiatives
Serve on committees and participate in meetings
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Director or Director

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in progress from an accredited higher education institution
Minimum of three years professional experience in education, student services, advising, counseling, human services, social work, or a closely related field
Possess a strong understanding of college student development and the ability to educate college students on navigating the higher education system
Strong written and oral communication skills
Willingness to regularly work evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned master's degree in education, higher education, counseling, social work, or related field
Community college experience
Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs, and commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus
Experience with student information systems
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration
Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
A valid New York State driver's license and willingness to travel to recruitment visits within Monroe and the surrounding counties

Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a range of $52,000 to $55,000 and is based on the mentioned factors.
