Insight Global is seeking a Special Education Teacher to work for it's BOCES client in Durham, New York. The job responsibilities will include:Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis; seeks the assistance of staff specialists as required. Plans and provides a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students; establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicates these objectives to students. Creates a learning environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students; employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives; requests the involvement of supportive services as needed. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, appraises accurately and objectively the effectiveness of prescribed learning activities in achieving pre-determined modifications in individualized instructional programs; recommends future programming alternatives for students currently assigned. Attends and participates in staff meetings, cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods. Establishes and maintains open levels of communication with students, their parents and other involved personnel concerning academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. Provides for professional growth through an on-going program of reading, attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced courses of study at institutions of higher learning. Maintains a daily record of student attendance and reports such regularly according to a format and schedule provided by the supervisor. Maintains a diagnostic and assessment record pertaining to individual student achievement and reports such according to a format and schedule established by the supervisor. Reports regularly in a format prescribed by the supervisor regarding activities pertaining to each area of responsibility as requested by the supervisor. Prepares standard reports on student status and progress to parents, home school official and other related agencies according to schedules established by the supervisor.

* IEP experience* Current SWD certificate within New York state (students with disabilities)*1+ year of experience within special education*Willingness to work with a wide range of ages (K-12), in 3-6 person groups at a time
