Our ESSCA Team Leads serve as first line supervisors and oversee the Task Orders and personnel that support the requirements defined in the ESSCA Performance Work Statement, plus any additional skills that may be required as the ESSCA contract matures. They ensure that high performing people are acquired through disciplined human resources processes and are appropriately trained, developed, and perform to Amentum's policy and standards. Team Leads are responsible for the proactive management of assigned Task Orders and personnel to ensure effective accomplishment of MSFC requirements.

This Team Lead position will be in the Spacecraft and Vehicles Systems to support the MSFC EV73 Systems Analysis and Human Systems Integration (HSI) Branch for the following area:

• JV46 (EV73) - Critical Model Validation & Certification Support

Position responsibilities include:

• Provide leadership and support to JV46's three high-performing subteams:

o Mass Properties Engineers, who are critical to the design, development, and operation of space flight vehicles by tracking and computing mass, centers of gravity, moments of inertia and products of inertia for space vehicles from the most detailed component levels all the way up to the integrated vehicle and its propellant inventory.

o Model and Simulation Integration Engineers, who are essential to the verification, validation, and credibility assessment of models and simulations used in NASA decision-making, particularly for design, development, and mission assurance. They apply NASA-STD-7009 to assess model credibility and ensure simulation-based evidence meets rigor expectations across disciplines such as structural, thermal, guidance and control, and mission design.

o Engineering Photographic Analysts, who provide niche technical expertise in photogrammetric imaging and flight imagery systems analysis for the Space Launch System (SLS). Their role is central to evaluating and improving the SLS Vehicle Imagery System (VIS), including assessment of camera placements, compression rates, and photo-marking strategies to ensure mission-critical measurements such as booster and fairing separation clearances.

• Lead and oversee individual and team technical performance, including managing technical leads, balancing workloads, and contributing expertise to ensure high-quality deliverables.

• Assign personnel strategically to task orders to meet customer and ASED management needs while broadening team skills and capabilities.

• Ensure technical quality and process compliance in alignment with the ASED Quality System.

• Develop team members through on-the-job training, strategic assignments, mentoring, and formal education.

• Collaborate with Department leadership to forecast resource and skill needs, optimize workforce flexibility, and plan for future capabilities.

• Identify and manage cost, schedule, and technical risks to meet Task Order, ESSCA, and ASED business objectives.

• Promote a culture of safety by implementing the ESSCA SafeUp program and modeling safe behaviors.

• Perform full cycle hiring, including defining position requirements, recruiting, interviewing, selecting, onboarding, and integrating new hires.

• Set employee goals, conduct performance evaluations, and address performance or disciplinary issues when required.

• Recognize achievements and foster team morale through the awards and recognition program.

• Approve employee travel, training requests, and related expenses.

• Manage specialty subcontracting efforts, including SOW development, task assignments, and performance oversight in coordination with the JV45 Team Lead and ASED Business and Finance Office.

• Maintain strong customer relationships, resolve conflicts proactively, and foster positive team dynamics.

• Coordinate with other Team Leads, ASED leadership, and partner organizations to share best practices and align efforts across MSFC and ESSCA.

• Explore and develop new work opportunities in collaboration with ASED and MSFC personnel, aligned with Amentum initiatives.

• Apply advanced analytical, design, and testing tools to provide state-of-the-art capabilities and ensure consistency across the team.

• Execute special projects as assigned by leadership.

Team Leads will provide support to ESSCA contract operations in the areas of:

• Ensure excellent customer relations and harmonious team dynamics and operations through excellent conflict resolution.

• Facilitate excellent coordination/communication/collaboration with other Team Leads, ASED management, Teammate Principals, ESSCA Technical Fellows, Business Office, and HR.

• Support ASED leadership communication, sharing, and development of best practices for MSFC and across ESSCA.

• Actively work with ASED and MSFC personnel to explore new work areas and develop new task scope in conjunction with our Amentum initiative.

• Ensure quality of technical work in accordance with the ASED Quality Management System, for which the team is responsible.

• Apply analytical, design, and test tools to provide state-of-art capability to MSFC and consistency across our entire staff.

• Leverage broad experience/familiarity to effectively apply the technologies and tools used in technical discipline.

• Conduct special projects as assigned by Department Manager or Office of Program Manager.

A bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering, or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution is desired. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum 11 years of experience, Masters with at least 13 years of experience, or BS with at least 15 years of experience.

The candidate is required to have outstanding technical and leadership qualifications in one or more of the following areas:

• Technical leadership and engineering management in aerospace disciplines.

• Demonstrated skills in the areas of technical management, data management, and systems management as needed to support evaluation of MSFC programs and projects.

• Broad customer and professional network in a field of technical expertise in alignment with the position description .

• Verbal and written communication, integration, and interpersonal skills.

• Participation in professional society, e.g., AIAA, NSBE, SHPE, SWE, etc.

• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relations, presentation, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Technical and systems evaluation expertise in several of the following technical specialties is required:

• Systems Engineering and Integration

• Mass Properties and Weight Management

• Photogrammetric Imaging and Analysis

• Data Integration Tools, Systems, and Processes

• System Supportability Analysis

• Modeling and Simulation Management and Controls

• Knowledge and/or experience using Model Bases Systems Engineering (MBSE) Tools such as DOORs, DOORS NextGeneration (DNG), MagicDraw, Jira, etc.
