South Dakota Beef Industry Council Searching for New Executive Director

PIERRE, SD –Following the resignation of Jodie Anderson, the South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC) is currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated beef industry professional to serve as their next Executive Director.

SDBIC President Carl Sanders and the Executive Committee have expressed full support for the transition, emphasizing their commitment to continuing the Council's mission of promoting and strengthening the beef industry in South Dakota.

“We appreciate Jodie's leadership and contributions to the beef industry in South Dakota. She has helped position the Council to engage with beef producers and consumers in new ways, and we look forward to finding a candidate who can build on that momentum,” said Sanders.

The SDBIC Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing checkoff collections and compliance within South Dakota, budget development and oversight, and ensuring the Board's goals and priorities are achieved.

The SDBIC board of directors and staff work as a team to enhance consumer confidence in beef and improve opportunities for producers.The SDBIC believes in sustainable beef production practices that are socially responsible, environmentally sound, and economically viable.

ABOUT SDBIC:The SDBIC collects and administers the $1 beef checkoff on cattle sold in South Dakota. Checkoff dollars are utilized strictly for promotion, education, or research programs. Fifty cents of every dollar is directed to the Cattlemen's Beef Board for programs on the national level. The SDBIC retains 50 cents, which is invested in additional national programs or in-state programs.

The SDBIC is comprised of three representatives from eight agricultural organizations: SD Beef Breeds Council, SD Cattlemen's Association, SD Cattlemen's Auxiliary, SD CattleWomen, SD Farm Bureau, SD Farmers Union, SD Livestock Auction Market Association and SD Stockgrowers Association.
